Last month marked the 45th year of life long friendships with two wonderful people.  I met Tammy and Patty in Kindergarten and we share many wonderful memories of days gone by.  Most recently we made memories across the rolling prairie of North Kansas. During the fall months we try to get away for a special “girls weekend” usually spending our time in Colorado doing fun things like shopping or traveling to our favorite yarn stores and talking about our latest knitting projects.  This year we braved a road trip to Kansas across US 36 taking us through small towns on a “Treasure Hunt”.  On the third weekend of September the US Highway 36 Association hosts a three-day border to border, 13 county antique and garage sale.  Wow did we have fun!

My sister-in-law Anne and brother-in-law Brian graciously blessed us with a wonderful “bed and breakfast” at their beautiful home.  The next morning Anne escorted us along the back roads and rolling hills of North Central Kansas. Ahh, true country relaxation where the pace is slow and every passerby is friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t keep a journal of our stops and got so caught up in the plethora of farm relics the places began to muddle together in my mind.  All three of us came home with many magnificent finds. As you can see in the picture below we filled the back of the SUV to the brim!

Over all the miles we traveled, the laughter, the conversation, the reminiscing, the places we stayed, the food we enjoyed and the treasures we found, the most valuable to me is our life long friendship!
